Welcoming my little niece Mackenzi to the world
I love working with babies, I guess that is a little obvious hehehe I love all the babies that come into my life, who’s memories I get to capture, for their families and one day for them. Now you can only imagine when one of these gorgeous little munchkins is my family hehehe ♥
I'm very blessed with 4 little nieces and 4 little nephews (with a new nephew on the way ;) ) I feel very honoured to capture my own families memories. I first spoke to my sister Angie when she was about 5 months pregnant about doing birthing photos. I knew she wanted to go to Genesis (an amazing birthing clinic) and I had captured a birth there before. When She came back to me elated at the offer I knew this was going to be one of the most amazing experiences I will ever have. To watch a baby enter this world is truly an experience you can never forget. Now getting to watch your very own niece being born, your sister and brother in law experience this awesome moment. That is something that gives me shivers as I sit here writing this.
And so I was on call...
On the evening of the 13th of July 2012 a Friday, I got a whatsapp message from my sister to tell me her midwife (from The Nest Mother and Baby Clinic) had checked her out and she would be having Kenzi the next day. She had been in slow labour that whole week already, but now... it was time.
I was frantic as I had promised a fellow photographer that I would be assisting her at a wedding that day. She normally used another friend but that friend wasn't available that day. After a bunch of phone calls and her finding out her regular second shooter was now available she was very excited to give me the green light to be with my family and capture this amazing time for them.
I had play by play happenings coming through on my phone the whole morning, between my mother and my other sister I knew exactly what was happening. I was finally told that I should start making my way through to Genesis as they were all leaving to go through. I got stuck in what seemed like the worst traffic I had ever seen! Due to roadworks. I eventually climbed off the highway and made it through back roads to get there in enough time to capture some of the sitting around and waiting.

Wanja contacted me to let me know they were expecting, I was so excited! And meeting little Connor was such a pleasure ♥ he was a real angel! He slept perfectly and gave us the best pouty lips :D

We had great fun and got creative with Camila's wedding dress and wedding hair piece, I love incorporating those kinds of sentimental very special items into my shoots.
I fell in love with this family as I watched them interact with each other, so much love ♥
Little Madison

She posed beautifully for me, I love the photos I got with her. Her Mom brought out this cuteness little hat that
suited her to a t.

3 Generations, just in time for Mother's Day ♥
Cute little Dijan
Dijan arrived a healthy big boy and Susan brought him through to my house for his newborn shoot. This is the first time I've ever done a shoot at my home, and it was easily one of my easiet newborn shoots. Dijan was a star and posed perfectly for me.
I instantly fell in love with those chubby cheaks :D
Summer sweetness
Her nursery Decor mostly comes from Mammas & Pappas from Dubai where her grandparents live.
Little Summer decided to christen daddy while we were doing his photos with her hehehe He handled it like a tropper. She was an angel to work with.

Little Matthew was very excited and in the early months before they knew if they were having a boy or a girl, Matthew was convinced that he was getting a little brother. He was adamant he was going to have a brother.
The day Colette went to find out if they were going to have a little girl or a little boy, Matthew went with to the doctor. But that morning for some reason, Matthew went to his mom and told her that he rather wanted a little sister and that the baby Colette was carrying was going to be a little girl. Well obviously someone was paying attention to little Matthew because that day the Hörter family found out they were expecting a little girl :D
Colette was thrilled to know she was getting her pigeon pair.
Little Olivia arrived late January this year but wasn't able to leave the hospital just yet as she had some heath issues. She was doing well and not long after she arrived she could come home and the family could settle into their routine. Colette is a wonderful photographer so when she asked for me to join her in documenting Olivia's newborn photoshoot I was ecstatic. We photographed together and it was so much fun!
Matthew adores his little sister and couldn't be happier.

Sweet little Kaitlyn
I captured Collette's Maternity photos and it really was just in the nick of time as little Kaitlyn made her apprearance early within the week after our shoot.
Kaitlyn was 2 months old at the time of her shoot but she was still so tiny. Normally this is to old to do newborn photos but because of how early she was and how tiny she was we still managed to get some sleepy shots :)
Kyla Newborn
What a darling little girl, she posed beautifully and was so sweet throughout her shoot. Dom, Sean and Mika were all smitten with her. Mika her big sister was so sweet with kissing her and holding her it was beautiful to watch.

The Birth of Kyla Rae
Late last year Dominique asked me if I'd be interested in documenting the birth of her little girl Kyla at The Genesis Birthing Clinic. I am doing a Baby's First Year with her. I was a little taken a back but also so excited to be able to capture such an amazing and intimate experience.
I needed to be on call over the festive season but Kyla was only scheduled to make her appearance in January. On the 8th of January it was a Sunday morning, around 7am I got an sms from Dominique, her water had just broken, it was time. I was so excited, she said to me that she would keep me updated and let me know when I needed to come through.
That day I went and had lunch at Norio's (my hubby) family, The whole day staring at my phone waiting for that call to come through. At 7pm Dom phoned to tell me that I should leave in an hour then I'd be there in time. So 8pm came and I got in the car, making sure I had everything I needed. It was storming that night and the rain was coming down hard. A trip that should have taken 30min ended up taking me an hour because I drove slow to make sure I got there in 1 piece.
When I arrived the rain had lightened and it was so quiet at Genesis. 9Pm at night will do that to a place hehehe.
Everyone was so welcoming to me, it really was so amazing to be there during this amazing experience. This is going to be a long post, please bear with me ;)
Pierre is 1 Year Old

Because Pierre was already born when his mom won a complete Baby's First Year package with me we opted to move the
maternity shoot to cover his 1st Birthday Party, So keep your eyes peeled coz it will be on my blog next.
